Reading a story
to your child is important.

Reading that same story again
is even more important!

As a teacher and researcher, working multiple layers of learning into the
reading of a single book has always come easily to me.

I knew what questions to ask and what words might need to be explained. I actually loved when my children would ask to hear a story over and over again because I knew that with each reading, I was going to be able to sneak in a bit of new learning.

Researchers found that when children listened to a book multiple times, they changed from being  passive listeners and became active learners asking clarifying questions, used vocabulary from the story, and made personal connections with the book.

Reading a story to your child is important, but reading it again and again is even more important! It’s also something that’s easy to do.

With Read it Again, I've combined research findings with what I've always known to be true and effective to give you learning activities that are centered around the repeated reading of great children’s literature. Because a story is always a great place to start!

Each Beyond the Book title includes educationally sound activities carefully designed to make each reading of your child's favorite story an opportunity to not only gain knowledge, but more importantly foster an early love of learning.

So, the next time your child asks to hear the same story again, don't hesitate,
go ahead ... Read it Again!
